A half century has passed since Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences (JSASS) was renamed in the official Japanese name. The previous name was the Japan Society of Aeronautical Engineering. It can be said that this half century is the history of Japanese space engineering and sciences. The board of directors of JSASS decided to publish ‘JSASS Space Vision 2050’ for the future space activities. JSASS Space Vision 2050 consists of ‘Space vision’ and ‘Space roadmaps.’ ‘Space vision’ shows expected space activities in 2050 and the future, and ‘Space roadmaps’ show technical and political items to be cleared by 2030 and 2040.
